A cuisine without buckwheat is unthinkable in Eastern Europe, as it is consumed as a typical staple food already in the morning as porridge or as a main meal.
The roasted buckwheat can be cooked in water, eaten either as a porridge or side dish such as rice or pasta. As a hearty side dish, it is served with meat or fish, as a filling in a goose, for example, or on its own as a vegetarian main course. Our buckwheat is already peeled and roasted, so it can be cooked immediately and does not need to be washed or sorted beforehand.
A buckwheat porridge prepared with milk, is a national dish called kasha and is most often consumed already at breakfast.
Buckwheat has a nutty aroma and can be used in many ways, such as baking bread or blinis as buckwheat flour, as an ingredient in cereals, soups, salads or casseroles.
From a nutritional point of view, buckwheat is also interesting, because it is a source of protein and contains 12.6g of protein per 100g of buckwheat. Proteins contribute to an increase in muscle mass. This applies to a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
Preparation: put 300g of buckwheat in slightly salted boiling water. Simmer over low heat for about 10 minutes. If necessary: turn off the stove and let it swell for another 15 minutes.
